All voting day and advanced voting locations must be wheelchair accessible. Every effort is made to ensure voting locations are wheelchair accessible. If you have particular needs, contact the Clerk’s Office in advance to review the site accommodations. 

You may ask the deputy returning officer at the poll for assistance or you may bring a friend to the voting location to help with the voting process. Your friend may help you mark your ballots. A person may only act once as a friend for an elector.

On the scheduled dates, if you reside in one of these facilities, you will be able to vote at the polling place that the Municipality of Leamington provides in the facility.    

When required, election officials will go to the bedsides of electors in these facilities so they can vote.

You can also vote by proxy. This means any elector qualified to vote the Municipality of Leamington may appoint another elector as their voting proxy.

An Elector may act as a voting proxy for:

(a) one other Elector, who is not a Relative; or

(b) one or more Electors, who are Relatives, using separate proxy Application Forms for each.

The appointment of a voting proxy may only occur after Nomination Day (August 24, 2026) through to Voting Day. Appointment for Voting Proxy Form will not be issued on Election Day nor certified on Election Day.

Only an Elector qualified to vote who wishes to appoint a voting proxy may request and obtain an Appointment for Voting Proxy Form that is to be marked as being issued from the Clerk’s Office. You must be on the Voters' List in order to vote. If you are not on the list, you can get added if you can show proof of identity and proof of residence to election officials. 

If you are on the Voters List, you will be asked to show proof of identity when you go to vote – if you don’t have proof of identity, you can make a statutory declaration to receive your ballot.

Accessible Voting System

Voter Assist Terminals (VAT) will be available at designated locations on advanced polling dates as well as voting day. VAT gives voters with special needs the ability to mark their ballots independently and privately.

The VAT is equipped with Autocast, which allows voters to cast ballots without assistance directly into a secure ballot box after verification, as well as an audio tactile interface for hearing impaired voters.

Foot paddles and Sip-and-Puff assistive technology are also available for voters unable to use the touch screen or touch pad and allow them to vote autonomously.

 To vote in Leamington's Municipal Election on October 26, 2026, you must be:

• A resident of Leamington, or the owner or tenant of land of lands in Leamington, or the spouse of such non-resident owner or tenant
• 18 years of age or older
• A Canadian citizen
• Not prohibited from voting by law
• On the Voters List or be added to the Voters List when you go to vote.
